I’ve played way too many Paradox Interactive games. Every time I read “HRE” I just think Holy Roman Empire....

A lot of super-expensive shit is ugly under the guise of standing out and making something unique.

Laser sintering itself isn’t really that special, it’s been around for years. But when an object is designed with Topology Optimization to produce a part that’s not possible with subtractive manufacturing and subsequently laser sintered, that’s when the technology really becomes cool.

That’s a great video.
I have a friend that works in 3D printed titanium. It’s a difficult process to get right with repeatable results . Not as big an issue with automotive wheels.
I haven’t seen the powder approach for titanium before. Not sure if it’s better or worse than the rapid plasma deposition.

Crazy, but I think Neuspeed’s making “clear” wheels.

Sooo, 3D printed wheels should be cheaper than casting / forging, right? RIGHT?
Also, brake dust. Haaaaaahahahaha.

Nope, sod that for a laugh. I’d have to take the wheels off each and everytime I needed to clean them and each wheel would be at least an hour to do.

But let’s look on the bright side! You could retire on these wheels. Somebody would definitely pay Svend to Svend these babies.

If you’re rich enough to afford that McLaren with those wheels you’ll be rich enough to afford a guy who would clean those wheels without complaining

You wont be. If you can afford them you can afford a detailer who will do it for your on a regular basis.
